The small and charming Madonna della Guardia Sanctuary in Colle Argegna has been drawing for over one century pilgrims from the three slopes (Serchio, Magra, and Secchia), while S. Nicolao Hospice situated on Tea Pass used to give shelter to pilgrims and merchants even before. As a matter of fact, an alternative route of Via Francigena crossed this area, leading from Lunigiana to Lucca across Garfagnana. A centuries-old history in a gentle and almost hilly landscape, fields and pastures cut out by dozens of hedges, between Serchio and Aulella valleys.
