Spring in the Park

Spring in the territory of the National Park offers wonderful landscapes where the highest summits still covered with snow dominate the valleys where the green color dominates already.

It is the season when it is possible to admire wonderful spontaneous flowers (among which the primula apennina, a particular showy and beautiful species, very rare in the Apennines) which transform undergrowths, forage meadows, and pastures into natural botanic gardens. The flowering of the Narcissi, entirely covering the wonderful Prati di Logarghena in the Municipality of Filattiera, is of particular beauty, and in early May there is a beautiful celebration day dedicated to it.

Streams and rivers in this season are particularly rich in water and create charming waterfalls.

It is the ideal season to visit the Park towns and the several cultural features characterizing it: Castles, Churches, Mills, Museums, precious architectural elements, and archaeological sites or to visit the agricultural holdings producing the local traditional agri-foodstuffs of the Park for tastings and guided visits.

Among the spring initiatives, it is important to mention those linked to the Easter traditions and those promoted by the National Park within the event European Day of Parks.

Spring in the Apennines offers the opportunity to follow several trekking, biking, and horse riding itineraries above all on the Tuscan slope, where the climate is already mild. The big wall of Pietra di Bismantova gives the opportunity to practice sports climbing, while around the Pietra you will find the cardiac-protected routes.
